Islesboro Central School is a unique K-12 public school which currently has 95 students. ICS features small class sizes which allow for individualized attention. We are located on the island of Islesboro, only a short twenty minute ferry ride from Lincolnville, Maine. ICS students consistently score well above State of Maine averages on standardized tests, and each year our students attend top colleges after graduation.
The RSU #3 Strategic Design Process grows out of a vote taken by the RSU 3 Board of Directors in the Spring of 2011 to move RSU 3 towards the implementation of a proficiency based system of education (otherwise known as a standards based or mass customized learning system).·The strategic design process will involve the creation of a community education design team and a staff education design team.· Both teams will have student representatives on them.· Both teams will be charged with accomplishing the following two task:1. To engage the community in defining a comprehensive future focused vision for the creation of a proficiency based system of education in RSU 3 that will prepare all our students for 21st century learning, work, and life and;2.To assist in developing a strategic plan of action to move the organization in the direction of the vision.
