USD #387 MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Altoona-Midway Schools is to ensure that all students have the opportunity for a quality education which will enable them to develop attitudes, knowledge, and experience necessary to reach their potential for becoming responsible and productive members of society.

The Fredonia Central School District serves the Village of Fredonia and the immediate surrounding rural area. Fredonia is a community of 11,000 residents, located in Chautauqua County, New York. It is located 50 miles southwest of Buffalo and over 400 miles west of New York City. It is the site of the State University of New York (SUNY) College at Fredonia.
The Fredonia Central School District is made up of four buildings. The Fredonia elementary (Grade 3 to 5), middle (Grade 6 to 8) and high school (Grade 9 to 12) are housed on one main campus, while the primary grades (Pre-K to Grade 2) are located at the Wheelock Primary school, a separate building from the main campus. The district has 1,694 students and 156 teachers. The district is predominately Caucasian, with only 7% of students being an ethnicity other than Caucasian. Additionally, 16% of the student population is eligible for free lunches, while 6% are eligible for reduced lunches. Class sizes range from an average of 19 in the primary and elementary schools, to an average of 18 in ELA classrooms in the middle school, to an average of 22 per ELA classroom in the high school.
