SCRIBNER-SNYDER COMMUNITY SCHS - Nebraska School District

About School District: There are currently 16 students in the 6th grade. The 6th graders don’t do anything for the 100th day because it’s for the younger kids. Some fun activities they do are Internet searches for research, and review games, such as Jeopardy. In Social Studies they’re learning about the United States Government and in History they’re learning from 1776 to the present, 5th grade math they’re learning division, 2-digit divisions, and in 6th grade math they’re learning about fractions. Mrs. Dierking enjoys teaching 5th and 6th grade. The 6th graders can’t choose just one favorite subject. Their choice varies from time to time. There are some fun projects they do, which include Science Fair, and Social Studies research papers on the 50 States. Each student gets a different state. Their favorite part of the day is of course P.E. Mrs. Dierking gets along with the entire 6th grade class. There’s a couple of field trips they plan on going to before the school year is over, which are the Space Museum and the Strategic Au. They’ve already gone to Summit Lake. Both the 5th and 6th grade class read and does bonus papers in their spare time when they have nothing else to work on. Some fun learning games they do to help them study for tests are Jeopardy Quizmo. Mrs. Dierking has a couple main goals for the 5th and 6th graders. She wants them to learn how to be more responsible and completing assignments accurately and on time.In our effort to improve communication between parents and school,  August 26, 2011 Scribner-Snyder Community Schools is implementing a telephone broadcast system that will enable school personnel to notify all households and parents by phone within minutes of an emergency or unplanned event that causes early dismissal, school cancellation or late start.  The service may also be used from time-to-time to communicate general announcements or reminders. This service is provided by SchoolReach, a company specializing in school-to-parent communications. Scribner-Snyder Community Schools will continue to report school closings due to snow or weather on radio & TV stations and will use this system as an overlay to the public announcements
