About School District: The Hazleton Area School District covers 255 square miles, spanning southern Luzerne County and small portions of northern Carbon and Schuylkill counties, and is among the largest public school districts in the state. With a student population of nearly 10,500 students, the District employs more than 700 teachers in twelve school buildings. We embrace an inclusive approach to teaching and learning without social barriers by recognizing individual differences and the individual worth of each student. New students who enroll in the Hazleton Area School District will be given the opportunity to be educated in the least restrictive environment within the general curriculum supported by supplemental aids and services.
