About School District: The Tom Bean Independent School District is located approximately 10 miles southeast of Sherman, Texas, and approximately 50 miles north of Dallas on State Highway 11, just 8 miles east of US Highway 75. The District encompasses 53 square miles in Grayson County. Approximately 1900 people live in the school District. The District enjoys a teacher/pupil ratio of 1:11 and a computer/student ratio of 1:3. The approximate enrollment is 763 students. Elementary School (PK-5) 342; Middle School (6-8) 174; High School (9-12): 247. Student Ethnic Ratio: White, 92.8; Hispanic, 3.3%; American Indian, 1.5%; Asian, .1%; African American, 2.3%. TBISD has a highly qualified instructional staff of 66 members who have an average of 10 years teaching experience. Other employees include: 6 administrators; 1 RN nurse and 1 LVN nurse; 3 counselors, 13 instructional aides; 9 cafeteria; 8 custodial, 3 maintenance, 2 transportation, and 10 para-professionals. Total Employees – 122.
