Knowledge for a Lifetime.Stedman School District No. 16 was organized in the spring of 1908, about three months after Dunn County was organized. The first school board was elected April 11, 1908. Eleven boys and three girls were listed on that first census form. The earliest records available then go to 1913. Albert Lubke's Teacher's Final Report shows he had a three month fall term and a three month spring term for 14 pupils. He was paid a salary of $45 per month for his services and his only comment at the end of the term was that he needed a new dictionary. In April of 1915, Mrs. George Blaha, the teacher, met 54 pupils in the auditorium and held school until June of 1915. The school had one dictionary and no library. In Sept. 1916, there were 159 children ready for school, so the schoolhouse west of town was moved into Killdeer. Another building was rented and four teachers were hired. A big event was the completion of the new school in May 1917.
