District Goals: - Improve communication among home, school, and community. - Provide quality education to prepare students for their futures. - Promote respect and responsibility among all individuals. The Brookings Public School District was organized in April 1879. A long term commitment to quality facilities and a continuous process of developing long-ranged plans for meeting the program and facility needs is important to the district. Carefully planned maintenance and remodeling activities have ensured effective use of all the buildings. Use of technology is an important tool in the educational development of students from elementary to high school. Networking between buildings is complete, and Internet access is available in all classrooms and offices throughout the district. Electronic communication with the State Department of Education for student records provides accurate information and efficiency in submitting necessary state reports. Parent/teacher communication has been enhanced by the use of the homework hotline and e-mail messaging. The Brookings School District has consistently maintained composite scores on the standardized achievement tests in the average to above average range. As many as eight National Merit Scholar finalists have been identified in a single year. Strong academic programs as well as comprehensive programs of cocurriciular activities and organizations are provided at the middle and high school levels.
MISSION STATEMENT: The Deubrook Area School through a positive and safe learning environment, will prepare students to be lifelong learners, inspire students to reach their potential, and promote respect and character.
The Elkton Independent School District 5-3 believes in the worth, dignity, and uniqueness of each individual. We believe the purpose of the educational process is to prepare each student to accept responsibilities for self, family, community, country, and the changing global society, and to empower students with a dedication to lifelong learning. Therefore, the District will offer a broad curriculum to fit the needs and levels in the intellectual range of all students by providing academic, vocational, and activity programs which give each individual the opportunity to develop his/her potential. We believe this can be attained through the joint efforts of students, parents,
staff, and community.
Our mission statement is preparing individuals to succeed in an ever-changing global community. Our vision includes developing enlightened persons who will learn and later give back to the larger community. The areas outlined are cultural, community/global, career, personal, and learning. All staff members embrace the ideas of providing a safe and caring place for students to learn. The staff also believes in setting high expectations for the teaching and learning that occurs in
all areas of the school district.
