Parental support, dedicated staff members and top-quality instruction contribute to an excellent learning environment in the schools. Early ISD encompasses 80 square miles and is located in the center of Brown County. The property tax rate is approximately $1.39 per $100. Early ISD was established in 1931 and known as the Early Common Consolidated Rural High School District. The oldest remaining building from the early years of the district is the red brick building on the primary/elementary campus. Mission Statement: It is the belief of the Early Independent School District that all students can learn and that our schools can make a positive difference in the lives of our students. Our mission is to provide an environment for individual growth and development of the whole child and to prepare our students to make a positive influence in the dynamic, changing world of our future. The Early Independent School District will maintain an instructional program which provides opportunities for increased student learning and performance, promotes social and emotional growth, and improves citizenship competencies regardless of students' socioeconomic status, family background, race, gender, or prior academic performance. The Early Independent School District exists for the purpose of making a positive difference in the lives of our students and we share the responsibility of education with students, parents, and the community.
Our school district is located in May, Texas, approximately 20 miles north of Brownwood and 30 miles south of Cisco, Texas. We are a public school district serving students in Pre-K through 12th grade. Our district has an extremely supportive community; friendly, caring teachers; an early childhood learning center; small class sizes; and college- and vocational- bound academics. Here at May Independent School District, we strive to provide all students with the tools they need to become successful in life. We want our students to feel like they belong and know they are “somebody.” In order to accomplish this, we focus on the following ideals: Safe Schools: We have small class sizes, a closed campus, fenced play areas, a school nurse, and staff trained for emergencies. Happy Environment: Our classrooms are positive places to learn and are staffed by caring teachers who bring out the best in our students. Student Involvement: To keep kids involved in their learning, we offer many extra-curricular activities including music, sports, academic clubs, student council, yearbook staff, and theatre. Well-educated: Our high academic state ratings are a result of offering our students state-of-the-art technology in classrooms, dual credit college classes, gifted and talented curriculum, and a challenging regular education curriculum.
